Dyslexia Friendly Schools Status
Elkesley Primary and Nursery School is very proud to have achieved Dyslexia Friendly Schools Status. This award recognises the good practice that is in place throughout the school to ensure that all pupils, including those who have dyslexia, are supported to make the best progress possible and to fulfil their potential.
“We are a very inclusive school and believe that all our pupils should be encouraged and supported to succeed. We set high expectations for our pupils and believe in their ability to achieve. We recognise each pupil as an individual with individual talents and interests and encourage pupils to develop these throughout their time at Elkesley. Through the Dyslexia Friendly Schools Status assessment process we have been able to examine our inclusive practice and further develop this. ”
Parents and friends attended a celebration assembly where dyslexic pupils presented examples of work and achievemnets and the school was presented with a certificate by Oona Oakland, Inclusion Support Teacher for the Local Authority and Melanie Cope, Assessor for Dyslexia Friendly Schools Status.
