  • Billy Bob Buttons

    Wed 09 Mar 2022 C Marsh

We were visited by an author who taught our Key Stage 2 children insider tricks and tips for how to plan and write a good story.

We were then lucky enough to have Mr Buttons complete a book signing at the end of the day for our children and families.

We have purchased some books and these will be available for children to read in our school library!

  • Reading Investigation Day

    Mon 07 Mar 2022 C Marsh

On Monday, we held a reading investigation day aimed at engaging children in reading for purpose.

In Key Stage 2, we received a report of a missing McCaw and were handed all of the evidence!

Children were put into teams and were required to scrutinise facts and identify red herrings as they read through clues, witness statements, interrogations and crime scene reports.

Using skills of comprehension, the children then had to make links between evidence to find the culprit.

Most children identified the correct criminal, however, the team with the best presented evidence won the prize!

  • Donations for Ukraine

    Sat 05 Mar 2022 C Marsh

The donations for the crisis in Ukraine have been absolutely overwhelming and the kindness and generosity of our families and the village make a difference to the lives of people we have never met.

Thank you so much to everyone who donated clothes, toys, blankets, toiletries and other essential items. You are amazing.

And thank you to Louise Ball who organised the collection and enabled us to support those in need!

  • World Book Day

    Thu 03 Mar 2022 C Marsh

The children (and teachers) had an amazing time during World Book Day!

We all shared our love of reading (and books)!

We used the text 'We are all Wonders' linked to our school value of compassion and discussed how we are all the same but all different but, most importantly, how we are all amazing.

The children truly embraced our 'dress up as a word' and we had some amazing costumes. See images for a small extract of our Elkesley Dictionary!
